Shopping Guide

You can go to Milano, London or Paris for shopping. Better you come to Hamburg! Here you will find shopping adventures in really all facets: From glamorous to eccentric, from alternative to fancy, from impressing malls to picturesque shops.

Shopping downtown

Mönckebergstraße, Spitalerstraße, Jungfernstieg or Gänsemarkt are places that bring up the notion of sauntering, shopping and daundering. Among large malls and retail warehouses, there are many boutiques and outlets for brands in the numerous passages.

Shopping in the Schanzenviertel and Karoviertel

Names like „Herr von Eden“ (Mr. Eden), „Elternhaus“ (parents‘ house), „Maegde und Knechte“ (maids and servants) or „Alpenglühn“ (a term describing the special atmosphere of the Alps during sunset) leads one only to suspect the character of the shopping streets in the Karolinen- and Schanzenviertel (two very hip districts). While downtown is dominated by famous fashion and brand names, here creative shops for fashion, music, design, accessories and decoration have settled.

Shopping in Hamburg's shopping centres

When you saunter through Hamburg, you will find a big number of small passages. There are so many that it is impossible to name them all. There are some large malls in different parts of the city that nearly fulfil every shopping wish for the „all inclusive shopping“ on rainy days.
